Pokemon of the Week

posted by Blue on Thursday, 2007-11-08 18:49 (PST)

The legendary flaming dog, Arcanine, is here thanks to Ninjomewtwo. For those who haven't noticed them yet, Magnezone and Infernape are also here. I have to apologise for not creating a PotW article since Slaking. I will be back with more PotW or a brand new article soon! Also, note that the articles are now sorted alphabetically so you can find the Pokémon you want easily. Now, the GenIV articles are in the bottom of the page.

I would like to see your build taking advantage of Iron Fist for Hitmonchan.

At 1.5 (stab ) x 1.2 ( Iron Fist ) x 1.1 ( Black Belt ) x 2 (Super Effective ) a Good fighting Punch (i.e. Drain Punch ;) ) is multiplied by 3.96.

The Elemental Punches are now Physical Attacks ( Yay ) and with the proper item (i.e Nevermelt Ice ) are 1.1 (Item ) x 1.2 ( Iron Fist ) x 2 (Super Effective -- that is why you are using it ) for 2.64 multiplier.

Life Orb with Drain Punch works great ( multiply by 3.6 with healing effect countering the last turns damage effect )

But it is the FULL moveset I would like to see.

Good POTW Only>.< @ 20/11/2007, 02:38:41 am

I don't want to be rude or anything… but… OMG, why are you peoples only wanting too see reviews of such sorry Pokemon. Seriously, King_Joe, uh… you should try to be more rational. Who uses Torterra, Venusaur, or Blastoise? I understand Empoleon would be good and so would Charizard. Wait no I don't. They all suck:p. Infernape, Feraligatr, Meganium, Swampert and Sceptile are at least O.K. I guess. Anyhow, I agree with Chrome. The Hitmon Brothers should provide with good POTW and reviews. Other Pokemon should have a review or Pokemon of the Week. Serebii.net sucks at that. They or 'he/she' does reviews on Pokemon no one will ever use. Unless the purpose is to have fun, but what kind of people do that? Who uses Politoad, Bannette, Marowak, Darkrai, Sudoowoodo? This is why I come to this site, because it actually puts something that isn't a waste of life err, Pokemon. So please Ninjomewtwo, write about something that people don't use as often but have good potential such as the Hitmon Brothers, Clamperl evolutions, Ambipom, Gallade, Gardevoir, etc. Thanks. I hope I enlighten someone's brain by doing this comment, and other people's:p No offense intended By The Way^.~

Chrome @ 22/11/2007, 11:16:23 am

Glad some agrees with me. And I kind of think the same thing on Ambipom. That Technician ability looks intriguing with the range of 60 Power attacks Ambi can get. A 482 Base Stat is tolerable … like all Ability based builds Skill swap may hurt the build, but since most competitive pokemon do not carry 60 point attacks … it won't help the swapper.

In game it is great as you can TM whore it with Cut and Rock Smash with a Black belt or Fist Plate. Aerial Ace and either Double Hit ( each hit becomes 78 power with technician and STAB ) or Thief (for the ghosts but you can use A-Ace there ).

Yep lots of potential.

king_joe @ 23/11/2007, 06:51:16 pm

ok well all i really care about is feraligatr and blaziken. i miss the good ol' days when i had silver with my feraligatr

oh and i was thinking their should be a segment for rampardos. i thought of a moveset but i dont know if it's any good.

Rampardos: Mold Breaker
Jolly nature and Choice Scarf for it's horrible speed and with the defences it has rampardos needs to be FAST!
moves: 1) Pusuit for people who flee (maybe)
2) Earthquake for its wide variety and because mold breaker makes it very useful
3) Rock Smash or Stone Edge. both have the same accuracy just one is stronger with recoil
4) Hammer Arm for variety and since it is a choice pokemon the speed reduction wont be that bad because of frequent switching

maybe zen headbutt im not sure though

what do you think?

Chrome @ 24/11/2007, 05:13:38 pm

King Joe,
That is okay … the great thing about Pokemon is there are over 400 pokemon that you can choose to use your favorites.
And nothing is better than to use a pokemon someone thinks sucks and own their sorry Ash ( get it? heheh Ash? -- my bad :P ).

Actually now that Moves are broken up Physical/Special by attack versus move type, Ferilgatr should get an upgrade. It is just the moveset is pretty obvious.

Adamant ( You aren't intending on using Special ) or Jolly ( if you just want fast -- and go with Sword Dance ).
Life Orb
Max out IVs in Attack and either Speed ( if you choose Sword Dance ) or Defense ( if you choose Dragon Dance ).

Ice Fang/Ice Punch
Aqua Tail
Earthquake
Sword Dance/Dragon dance

Fang for flinch, punch for power.
Aqua Tail for STAB
EQ to take out Electric and Steel but also just cause it is EQ :D
Sword Dance gets there faster but Feraligatr has the Defense to get of two maybe three Dragon Dances.

Ok, Ninjomewtwo might as well quit with the pokemon of the week since its been a lot since he updated. There's always Smogon anyways. I never even got the 'Pokemon of the Week' since it occured like three times a week, I think. WE NEED AN UPDATE!

Patience @ 26/11/2007, 01:54:02 am

You guys have got to work on a serious schedule here. I mean look, Serebii's got a PotW every Sunday. So the people have somethin' to look forward to that day. But you guys? We don't know when the next PotW article is gonna be written and published on the site! You got any idea how annoying it is to have to hope for a PotW article? You guys were goin' pretty nicely when Blue informed us of a renewed PotW section, weren't you? Yeah, almost every day one or two articles were bein' published. Where's all that enthusiasm now, eh? Heh. Really, get yourselves a schedule you can stick to. And stop workin' on all the crazy effects and designs you try an' give your site and start working on its contents. That's what it needs, aight?

Patience @ 26/11/2007, 01:57:44 am

And, oh yeah, mr. Good POTW Only>., would ya make your opinions sound less insultin'? I mean, "Serebii.net sucks at that"? I don't think so. At least they provide you with regular Pokémon of the Week updates, unlike these Legendary Pokémon guys. Heh, when I see some regular updates that continue, I'll put Legendary Pokémon as one 'o my main sites. Aight?

Good POTW Only>.< @ 27/11/2007, 03:14:46 am

O.K. Patience, you have obviously prooved that you don't know how to read. First, I stated at the end of my comment: "No offense intended By The Way^.~" If you don't know what that means, well, I'll guess I'll have to explain it. You-don't-have-to-say-anything-any-more-since-I-already-said-"sorry." Second, Serebii, in my opinion does "suck." Do you really find the Politoed, Darkrai, Sudowoodo, Banette, Flareon, Kingler, Marowak, Kangaskhan, Mantine, and now Rampardos, PotWs good? It looks like the person who creates those focuses more on "useless" Pokemon rather than on something people would use on competitive battling. Oh yea, sorry, I guess you're one of those people who have fun by playing with pathetic Pokemon. Third, do you know what Smogon does? If you don't then your missing out on a lot, trust me. It has a "PotW" on EVERY Pokemon with every possible moveset there is on the final evolutions of Pokemon. This completely makes Serebii's PotWs look like a waste of time. I mean seriously, every Sunday. That is so boring -probably doing it so the site never dies out, ROFL. I only come here because it actually put something that wasn't on Smogon! The Quick Attack Scizor. So this site is good too. Lastly, if your going to say my name without a THOUGHTFUL reason, say it right, Mr. Aight.

Patience @ 27/11/2007, 07:08:40 pm

Aright, I guess I didn't read the No offense part of your message. Sorry 'bout that. Neither did I know 'bout Smogon. But listen, besides Pokémon of the Week articles, Serebii's also got Game Mechanic articles which do get updated frequently. Second, their site loads way faster than LegendaryPokemon.net. You gotta think 'bout the people with slow connections too, right? Yeah, LegendaryPokemon's got a template, but their default design don't do your bandwidth no good. And Serebii's Pokédex pages have load fast, and have everything you need on one neat page, unlike the Pokédex here, where you gotta click some buttons to get where you need, and half of the top part is filled with a big piece o' artwork. If you download it, it ain't so bad but Serebii's is still better, unless your Internet connection's down. So my opinion: Serebii is way better than this site. I just like PotW articles, so I come here sometimes an' da forum's nice sometimes too. But dat's all.

Good POTW Only >___< @ 02/12/2007, 07:15:18 am

Can Ninjomewtwo do a Pokemon review on a Belly Druming Slowbro or maybe even Slowking? This should probably said in a situation where someone is using Trickroom to their advantage. I just want to hear the best moveset for a Belly Drumed Slowbro/Slowking in Trickroom, if you can please.'')

Good POTW Only >___< @ 04/12/2007, 02:30:10 am

I give up, this site is dead…

Blue @ 04/12/2007, 08:46:57 pm

This site is not dead.Ninjomewtwo and I stopped doing Pokemon of the Week because we were too busy.We will be back soon, but you should know that we are human beings and we have a lot of things to do and things that we would like to do.Creating a single Pokemon of the Week takes a lot of time not only because we have to find the movesets and the items (We are not just copying other sites and this is quite obvious) but also because we have to write it in HTML…

Good POTW Only >___< @ 05/12/2007, 02:37:18 am

Ok, Blue, but can you give is a time to look foward to? Are you guys gonna update a lot? Will you make the Belly Drumed, (in Trick Room) Slowbro/Slowking?

Eraleas @ 05/12/2007, 11:49:44 am

As I am back myself, I will try and see how we can possibly share tasks and have at least one pokemon per week and some more news. I used to do that some time ago, but trust me it's a lot of work
Hang in there people and we will soon have more content, hopefully!

Ninjomewtwo @ 07/12/2007, 04:54:49 pm

Just askin', but do you guys realise that I am a person too? Can't you understand that something may have happened to me? I've been without an Internet connection for 3 weeks now, how do you want me to write a guide? When I finally get my connection back, be sure I'll be update with some guides but I have no idea when that will be. So just wait and don't start shouting "Ninjomewtwo sux"…

Patience @ 09/12/2007, 03:52:43 pm

Alright, I sure didn't know that. I guess I should apologise. Sorry, NM2.

are you kidding? -.- @ 28/12/2007, 02:52:19 pm

"Good POTW only",do you think about anything else than your -beep- ego?Who are you to determine if any pokemon sux or not? This is not Ubers guide, its guide about ALL pokemon, even for the "suckers" like Empoleon and Charizard, that there are dozens of people that like.If i like Cradily for example, who are you to not let it get a review? And dont get me started about your comments like "Who plays for fun?" or "Who uses Marowak? etc".Open you freaking mind (or at least get one) and dont post such idiotic coments. And by the way,the guys here and at Serebii are doing an amazing job,and they try to get info about many things rather than just POTW…So if you have any complain,go start your own -beep- site

joseph @ 17/03/2008, 02:25:26 am

I think that this web page is sweet but i think that it just needs to tell you about any new pokemon there are like the three comeing out that are for pokemon diamand that you can only get threw wi-fi connection.
