Ken Sugimori artwork for Shikijika, the swan Pokémon and an unnamed bug Pokémon were found on the Yahoo Kids! web directory.

Furthermore, here's what Gamefreak director Junichi Masuda stated today:

This time in Black and White, there's new Pokémon till the end. Only new Pokémon come out!

This probably means that until a certain point in the game (the aquisition of the National Pokédex maybe?) only Generation V Pokémon will be obtainable.

    July 30, 2010

Kids show Oha Suta aired a new video from Pokémon Black & White, with previously unseen footage from the games. Three new Pokémon were shown; Miruhoggu [ミルホッグ] which is Minezumi's evolution, Shikijika [シキジカ], a deer Pokémon, and an unnamed swan Pokémon. Moreover, Pokémon Musical [ポケモン ミュージカル] (probably the Gen V equivalent of Contests and Super Contests) as well as the Pokéshifter [ポケシフタ] (Gen V equivalent of Pal Park) were presented.

    July 24, 2010

This week's Pokémon Sunday reveals a new legendary Pokémon, Victini [ビクティニ], which is actually the tiny critter that was shown at the end of the 14th movie trailer. It is number #000 in the Unova Pokédex and the first Generation V legendary to be distributed via Wi-Fi. During September 18th and October 18th, players will be able to download the Liberty Ticket [リバティチケット], which will allow them to meet the elusive Victini.

    July 6, 2010

The flying bat-like creature shown in the anime artwork that leaked on July 1st has been confirmed! Its name is Koromori [コロモリ], which probably derives from the japanese word "koumori" [コウモリ] meaning "bat".

    July 1, 2010

Leaked artwork of the upcoming anime series, Pocket Monsters - Best Wishes, reveals four new Pokémon. Along with the new female protagonist, Iris [アイリス], we can clearly see the evolutions of Mijumaru and Tsutaaja as well as two unknown Pokémon on her right side. Unfortunately, their names are too blurry to read, plus Tsutaaja's name is apparently written as Fuubii [フービー] which means they are probably tentative as well.

    June 28, 2010

Eight new Pokémon have been revealed, raising the total of known Gen V Pokémon to 22. They include Desukan [デスカーン], Denchura [デンチュラ], Doryuuzu [ドリュウズ], Ononokusu [オノノクス] and Moguryuu [モグリュー] as well as three un-named Pokémon with only their sprites being shown.

Just as it happened back in May, early scans of the CoroCoro magazine leaked on Japanese imageboards revealing even more new Pokémon. The seven new Pokémon are Chiraamii [チラーミィ], Gear [ギアル], Munna [ムンナ], Mamepato [マメパト], Hihidaruma [ヒ ヒ ダルマ], Shimama [シママ] and Meguroko [メグロコ], bringing the total of known Gen V Pokémon to 14. You can see these scans on our Flickr account. Furthermore, details about Reshiram and Zekrom showed up, including their types, abilities, height and weight. The method of aquiring Zorua is now known too. Along with all of the info above, several new attacks and abilities were mentioned. Most likely, this week's Pokémon Sunday show will officially present these Pokémon.

    May 28, 2010

According to Nintendo.gr, official sources state that Pokémon Black and White are hitting the American and European shelves in Spring 2011. What is more intriguing is that they named the two Legendary Pokémon which are going to be the mascots of each version: Reshiram [レシラ ム] for Pokémon Black and Zekrom [ゼクロム] for Pokémon White. They also mention about a new storyline, though nothing is clear about it currently.

Pokemon.com also has a picture of the two legendaries! As many may have predicted they look like a holy beast and a Demon BUT the white-coloured Pokémon is the star of Pokémon Black and vice-versa!

The official Pokémon Series website, has a proper video of walking around in Hiun City.

Japanese Boxart has been revealed as well. It is also now known that the new Legendary Pokémon are Dragon-type. They may have a second type but it's unknown at the moment.

    May 16, 2010

Continuing the information barrage of the previous days, variety show Pokémon Sunday properly reveals the new starters and the trainers from the upcoming games Pokémon Black/White and also shows new videos featuring the updated battle sequence, Hiun City's crowded streets, the Zoroark event battle and the Celebi event in Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver.

Most notably, the battle sequence is truly animated with dynamic zoom effects and animated Pokémon sprites throughout the whole battle. The city streets look busier than ever before, with many characters running around, shouting and dynamically avoiding obstacles, setting new standards of interactivity with NPCs.

Nothing new related to game mechanics was revealed this time either but stay tuned as CoroCoro's next issue promises even more details and screenshots, Zorua's capture method and the appearance of a brand new Pokémon!

Make sure you watch the video from Pokémon Sunday on Filb.de.

The Pokemon Company (headed by Tsunekazu Ishihara) announces that Gamefreak, maker of the canonical Pokémon RPG games, is working on a brand new game for the Nintendo DS which is set to be released within 2010:

We inform you the Pokemon Ltd. (President and Representative Director: Tsunekazu Ishihara) is developing the latest work for the RPG series "Pocket monsters" (Development: Gamefreak Ltd.: Nintendo Ltd.) that is the original Pokemon series for the Nintendo DS which is to be released within 2010. …

… The "Pocket monsters" series for the Nintendo DS makes the best use of the dual screen, touch and Wi-Fi capabilities of the Nintendo DS. This completely new game, four years after "Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl" (17.150.000 copies worldwide with over 5.800.000 in Japan), will feature new gameplay, new Pokémon and provide a reformation reborn of the series.

Please expect a future press release with more information on the content of the game.

The explicit mention of new Pokémon and of a schedule reformation of the series, makes us think that this is confirmation of Generation V games. It is also possible that these new games (or game) are related to the rumors of a successor to the Nintendo DS in late 2010. Perhaps the February edition of CoroCoro will reveal more information on the matter.
