I'd like to thank the comrades and friends —past and present— whose personal work and moral support made Legendary Pokémon possible: Johnny, Eraleas, Blue, NM2, Serebii and my sister. I owe a big thanks as well, towards the community that survived in our forums. We should also thank The Pokémon Inc. for both their intellectual property and tolerance.

However, I've unfortunately made a mistake: I thought that I'd always be around. I've actually said that “I'll never be like Pokémaster Kevin”; I'm sure few will get the reference. It appears that throughout the years, Legendary Pokémon was raised like a spoilt kind of pet, so intertwined with me that it wouldn't survive alone. Poetic as it may sound it's actually true, the backend is a heavily customized abandoned blog platform, coupled with hundreds of lines of undocumented Pokédex code; but I was a kid learning how to code, right? You should always facilitate contribution and open source the hell of the things you do.

Sometimes things cannot be fixed, but taking care of plants has also taught me that you should never abandon the things you love, no matter how hard it is to nurture them back to life. Therefore what Legendary Pokémon needs is a reboot, not a fix. People's interest has swifted towards social media, The Pokémon Inc. is actually a decent news source nowadays, communities in the fandom that have overspecialized are staple and volume of information is nothing we can compete against. We don't need to compete, we just want to complement.

I believe we need a new niche, coupled with a basic Pokédex perhaps (though that would require tons of work) and swift news reporting. That niche should be unique and quality —episodic perhacs— content: articles, guides, comic strips, fan fiction and reviews that do not reproduce existing information. More like a magazine, written by fans, for fans.

The reboot process will be long, tedious; requires a lot of work on my behalf to make this site independent. It will take months, maybe a year. Most importantly however, it requires your participation: we need your quality thoughts, your insight. In return what we all get is contentment and the feeling of belonging; c'est la vie. Fandom ethics and Intellectual Property laws dictate that we shouldn't make profit out of it anyway.

As announced in the Pokémon Global Link website, the next Wi-Fi tournament for Black 2 & White 2 is here. Registrations for the 2013 Spring Friendly start on Thursday, May 9th and last until Thursday, May 16th. The participant limit is set at 50,000 this time; first come, first served as usual. The actual tournament will run from Friday, May 17th through Monday, May 20th. The 2013 Winter Friendly tournament is open to players of Pokémon Black 2 or White 2 worldwide and, unlike most of the previous tournaments, it will not use the VGC rules. The battle format used will be Single Battles instead with Pokémon being turned to Lv.30 for the battles and every Pokémon in the Unova Pokédex of B2/W2 is allowed, including the often banned legendaries. Pokémon not found in the B2/W2 Unova Pokédex are banned. All participants in the 2013 Winter Friendly who enter the rankings will earn two C-Gear skins, featuring White Kyurem and Black Kyurem.

A new Wi-Fi event has been announced for Black, White, Black 2 and White 2. The Pokémon distributed this time is a Level 100 Deoxys and, while its moveset has not been revealed yet, it is most likely going to be the same as Masuda's Deoxys that is currently distributed in Japan which comes with Nasty Plot, Dark Pulse, Recover and Psycho Boost. The event will run from May 8th until May 31st. Deoxys is also going to continue the trend of the signature Pokémon of each new TCG set being distributed via Wi-Fi, picking up from where Mewtwo, Darkrai and Keldeo left, as Plasma Freeze is also released on May 8th.

Update: The announcement on the official site has been updated and it now says that Deoxys will be only available for Black 2 and White 2.

Mewtwo's transformation scene was also uploaded on the English Youtube channel. New information keeps getting revealed simultaneously worldwide, that's a great sign.

Update: According to the description of the video uploaded on Pokémon's Youtube account, this is "...a newly discovered Pokémon ... that bears an intriguing resemblance to the Legendary Mewtwo!"

The official Pokémon website has just updated with the dates and locations for the European Video Game National Championships. The dates are:

As it had been teased yesterday on the official Pokémon Twitter account, the special Pikachu 3DS XL has been officially announced for North America. The system will be released on March 24th, on the same day as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. It will be available at participating Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, and GameStop stores for $199.99. According to the official website, quantities will be limited so act fast if you want it!

The first pictures of CoroCoro's April issue have started leaking and a Mewtwo distribution was revealed. Japanese players who pre-order their tickets from April 20th until July 12th (the day before the movie premiere) for the upcoming movie, Extremespeed Genesect and Mewtwo's Awakening, will receive a special Lv.100 Mewtwo with its Hidden Ability, Unnerve. It comes with the moves Psystrike, Ice Beam, Heal Pulse and Hurricane and it will hold a Custap Berry. The distribution itself will start on June 15th and will end on September 1st.

While the April issue of CoroCoro doesn't typically reveal much, more pictures are expected to leak so stay tuned.

Update: Two more images have surfaced, revealing information about Pokémon Rumble U and the next season of the anime. The first one confirms that Pokémon Rumble U will be released on April 24th in Japan for the price of 1,800¥. The game will take advantage of the Wii U's NFC feature. Players will be able to purchase figures from Pokémon Center stores and have them appear and interact with the game.

The second picture gives some details about the upcoming anime saga, named "Pokémon Best Wishes Season 2 Da!". "Da" stands for Dekorora Adventure, Dekorora being the name of the archipelago Ash visits. The picture shows various Pokémon that will appear in the saga, the most interesting being Jirachi as it hasn't made an appearence in the TV anime before.

The first pictures of this month's issue of CoroCoro have started leaking and they reveal a new Pokémon, specifically a new Eeveelution, as many fans had predicted some time ago. The new Pokémon is called Ninfia (its name follows the pattern of Leafeon [Leafia] and Glaceon [Glacia], could its English name be Ninfeon or perhaps Nympheon?), its height is 1.0m and it weighs 23.5kg. Its type as well as its evolution method are not revealed for the time being.

Moreover, the name of the upcoming movie, featuring Genesect has been changed to Extremespeed Genesect and Mewtwo's Awakening. Considering previous movies have led us to believe there only one Mewtwo in the Pokémon world, could this be the return of that one Mewtwo?

Update: A new picture has surfaced and it announces a new game in the Pokémon Rumble series. The new game, called Pokémon Rumble U, will be a download-only title for Wii U that will feature all 649 Pokémon of generations I-V. It will also feature 4-player battles with up to 100 Pokémon battling at the same time. It's set for release this Spring in Japan.

Update: And another scan, this time revealing the first two cards from the upcoming Japanese TCG set, Megalo Cannon. Genesect and Genesect EX will both be in the set.

Update: As revealed by the video below, the new Eeveelution will be called Sylveon in English (French: Nymphali, German: Feelinara). Its type and evolution method still remain a secret though.

A new Wi-Fi event has been announced for players with English Black 2 or White 2 games. The Pokémon distributed this time is a Level 50 Keldeo, with the moves Sacred Sword, Hydro Pump, Aqua Jet and Swords Dance. The event will run from January 25th until February 12th, don't miss your chance!

Although Rayquaza broke the trend of the signature Pokémon of each new TCG set being distributed via Wi-Fi, Keldeo is here to continue it, picking up from where Mewtwo and Darkrai left. Could we possibly see a Lugia distribution once Plasma Storm is released?

Τoday, the United European Pokémon Communities (UEPC) is enormously pleased to announce the UEPC Winter 2013 Wi-Fi Tournament.

Having the goal to bring Pokémon players from across Europe together for the possibility to test their competitive skills, have fun and potentially win a cool prize, this tournament will once again involve all the countries of our national partners. Of course, people from other European countries (for example Hungary, Portugal, Poland, Turkey etc.) are not excluded from participating at this tournament and having fun while training their skills or even preparing for the official VGC tournament and also winning unique prizes.

The UEPC Winter 2013 Wi-Fi Tournament will be a single elimination-style tournament with no restrictions on the number of players from each country and utilising the Video Game Championships (VGC) 2012 rules and format as issued by Pokémon Organized Play.

Prizes include the winning player's choice of Pokémon Black Version 2 or Pokémon White Version 2, and valuable in-game prizes in the form of highly trained, battle-ready Pokémon for the runner-ups.

Any member wishing to participate may register in one of the registration topics listed below. The registration period will end at 23:59 on the 3rd of February, and the tournament will begin on the 5th of February.

However, no news have been revealed concerning the types of Xerneas and Yveltal. February's CoroCoro issue specifically teases about their typing with a few question marks. Could they have two never before seen type combinations? Could they introduce a new type? What do you think?

The Pokémon Direct presentation we mentioned yesterday has just ended and it most certainly didn't disappoint! After giving us a brief run through the history of Pokémon, Mr. Satoru Iwata announced Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, the first Generation VI games for the 3DS! Video footage of the new games was shown and it also revealed a few new Pokémon including the starters, Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie and two Legendary Pokémon that are most likely going to be the version mascots, a bird and a deer.

However, the most important part was the release date of those games. For the first time ever, the new games will be released internationally at the same time, specifically October 2013!

Update: The names of the legendary duo that appeared in the trailer have been revealed. The blue deer is Xerneas ("cern-" is a Gaulish root meaning "antler") and the red avian is Yveltal.

Update: Now that we've had the time to rewatch the video a few times and have a better look at everything, here are some details and thoughts.

• The Grass-type starter is named Chespin and its Japanese name is Harimaron.
• The Fire-type starter is named Fennekin and its Japanese name is Fokko.
• The Water-type starer is named Froakie and its Japanese name is Keromatsu.
• The mascot of Pokémon X is a blue deer-like Pokémon with rainbow colored antlers named Xerneas (ZURR-nee-us) while the mascot of Pokémon Y is a dark red bird named Yveltal (ee-VELL-tall). The pronunciations have been officially confirmed by TPCi.
• 3D battle animations, full 3D gameplay. It looks amazing.
• The new region is most likely based on France, or maybe Europe in general. You can clearly see the Eiffel Tower and Pikachu's Thunderbolt at the beginning seems to go off in France.
• The male protagonist moves on roller blades. Are they the Running Shoes or a replacement for the good-ol' Bicycle?
• Older Pokémon appear in the trailer.
• While it is obvious from the picture below that the bird Pokémon has a Y-shape, take a look at the video, specifically around 08:35. The iris of the deer Pokémon is a X.
