Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire - 21 November 2002
Compatibility: GBA,DS Designed for: GBA
Nintendo's first Pokémon creation for the GBA. A whole new world (which has no connection to the old ones unfortunately) with 135 new Pokémon (the cool thing is that the code keeps space for programmable Pokémon), 386 in total but at first only 202 of them are available (the last two ones, named Jirachi and Deoxys are promo's like Mew and Celebi) but the full Pokedex can be unlocked by using just trading an older generation Pokémon from Colosseum or Fire Red/Leaf Green. Built-in clock but no graphical day/night, place related weather conditions that affect battles, compatibility with E-reader and E-cards which provide the game non-coded features and unlock others (for example new berries and trainers to battle). Each Pokémon has a special nature now (brave, naughty etc.) and can enter various contests (beauty, strenght etc.) and they have special abilities that affect the battle strategy a lot. You can still play as a boy or girl like in Pokémon Crystal and you can have your own secret base which you can decorate as you like. The bad guys in this game are Team Magma in Ruby and Team Aqua in Sapphire. The starters in this game are: Torchic, Treecko and Mudkip. Note: Uncompatible with the R/G/B/Y/G/S/C versions.
